Parte dos versos são hebraico e parte é inventada. O resto das vogais, cantada com sons ao invés de em uma linguagem convencional, são um exemplo de canto melismático [Diz-se do canto, em que uma só silaba é entoada com diversas notas].

Diz ela: “É uma língua inventada dentro da música, por inerência, e as palavras significam mais do que posso dizer em Inglês”.
“A forma como eu canto não é nova, tem sido utilizada desde o início dos tempos, e isso é algo que todas as crianças já nascem. Não é única para mim, mas por alguma razão eu nunca perdi a capacidade”.

Lisa Gerrard (Melbourne, 12 de abril de 1961) é uma musicista, cantora e compositora australiana, que ganhou renome internacional como parte do grupo musical Dead Can Dance com o amigo irlandês Brendan Perry. Sua carreira começou em 1981 e continua até hoje, estando envolvida numa gama variada de projetos. Lisa Gerrard recebeu o prêmio Globo de Ouro e uma indicação ao Óscar em 2000 pelo seu trabalho no filme Gladiador [Gladiator].
